Globalization and Scientific Research: The Emerging Triple Helix of State-Industry-University Relations in Japan and Singapore

The specific nature and dynamic of the emerging triple helix of state-industry-university relations in Japan and Singapore is analyzed in this article. The impact of globalization and the emergence of transdisciplinary scientific fields on this institutional reconstitution are examined. Overall, the implications of these transformations for the debates over knowledge society are discussed.
